# Maxima minima

Sum of two numbers is 24.find numbers if product is maximum

Solution

Let one number is x and other is 24-x

X(24-x)should be maximum

24x-x^2 Derivative of this function is

24-2x

X=12

Again second derivative =-2

By second derivative test it should be maximum

At x=12 so other will be also 12

It satisfied condition  that the product is maximum

# find x so that x+2,4x and 6x+1 are terms of an arithmetic sequence solution

find x so that x+2,4x and 6x+1 are terms of an arithmetic sequence
solution
a 4
b 5
c 3
D 6
e none of the above
if a ,b ,c are in AP than we know that b=a+c/2 or 2b=a+c
by same application
2*4x=x+2+6x+1
8x=7x+3
8x-7x=3
x=3
solution is option C
